Authored by Sidney Sheldon in 1994, this book is a genre of Fiction. The story starts in a court room about a murder accused doctor who is on trail for killing her patient and the motive seems to be money.
Dr. Paige, a doctor at a county hospital in San Francisco is accused of killing her patient and all evidences are against her.To make things worse, the patient who got killed added Dr.Paige in his will and passed on one million dollars to her, which the doctor is unaware of. Dr. Paige admitted of killing her patient but claimed that was a mercy killing and she did that on request of the patient to relieve him from his suffering but has no idea about the money. The defense lawyer is helpless and prosecuting attorney is pleading for a death penalty.
The story revolves around Dr. Paige and two of her doctor friends working with her in the same hospital and staying together. In this suspense thriller, the author narrates the difficulties of being a intern doctor and go in to the intricacies of surgeries and other treatments which are astounding.
To add some ecstasy to the story, we have Dr. Betty Lou Taft and her sexcapades with almost everyone who comes on her way. The narration of Ms. Tafts' nothing but the needed spice in the story to keep us reading.
Also we had Dr. Kate Hunter, a confident, ambitious black women doctor, who was sexually abused by his step father and got the conviction to excel in her life met with an unfortunate ending.
As all the main characters are being women, this novel provides us the perspective of women for love, cheating, abuse, patriarchy and passion.
There is no introduction needed for the author who is one of the most successful writer and hold many best sellers in the past two centuries under his had. He knows how to keep the reader on track and his level of detailing is comprehensible.

Personal Note : This is the first work of fiction, I have read in my life in year 2003-2004. I have borrowed this book from my roommate during college days and as like the fate of any borrowed book, it had not reached the owner yet. This quarantine had provided me an opportunity to reread this and when I've Whatsapped a photo of this book to my friend, it rekindled lot of old memories. I promised him, that I'll return it this time. Lets hope so.
